Few people know that deep within Romania’s forests lie some of Europe’s most valuable gastronomic treasures: truffles and wild mushrooms. These refined ingredients cannot be planted or farmed — they’re discovered through patience, passion, and deep respect for nature.
Truffles — whether white or black — grow underground, in a delicate balance with the roots of trees such as oaks, beeches, or hazels. Harvesting them is a meticulous, artisanal process that involves some four-legged partners.

Specially trained dogs detect the scent of ripe truffles, and the truffle hunter — or “trufar” — gently digs them out, taking great care not to damage their shape or texture. Everything is done manually, with full respect for the soil and the natural forest cycle.

Unlike truffles, wild mushrooms reveal themselves to the trained eye.
Porcini, chanterelles, honey mushrooms, and other delicacies are foraged in their natural season, early in the morning, when the air is still fresh and the forest carries the scent of damp earth.
At Truffles Taste, every mushroom is inspected by hand. No farmed mushrooms are used — only those that grow naturally, without human interference. The harvest is then preserved using gentle, traditional methods: natural drying, rapid freezing, or controlled refrigeration, depending on the product.
