Few people know that hidden deep within Romania’s forests are some of Europe’s most valuable gastronomic treasures: truffles and wild mushrooms. These delicacies, prized for centuries in international cuisine, are not grown in greenhouses or planted like garden vegetables. They appear wherever nature allows them to, growing in harmony with the soil, moisture, trees and… time. It is all about balance, patience and respect for nature’s rhythms.
A Hunt That Requires Fine-Tuned Senses: How Truffles Are Harvested

Truffles – whether white, summer black or autumn black – grow underground, in perfect harmony with the roots of trees such as oaks, hazelnuts and beeches. They are invisible to the human eye, but detectable by another, far more refined sense: smell. This is why truffles are harvested exclusively with the help of specially trained dogs, capable of detecting the distinctive aroma of mature truffles hidden beneath the soil.
When the dog signals the presence of a truffle, the truffle hunter carefully digs it out, taking care not to damage its shape or texture. It is an artisanal, meticulous process, carried out entirely by hand – without machinery, chemicals or the rush of modern industry. Each truffle is a gift from the forest, brought to the surface with respect and care.
Porcini, Chanterelles and Other Wild Mushrooms – Hand-Picked and Carefully Preserved

Unlike truffles, wild mushrooms reveal themselves to the trained eye. Porcini, chanterelles, honey mushrooms and other delicacies are harvested during their natural season, early in the morning, when the air is still fresh and the forest retains the scent of damp earth.
At Truffles Taste, every mushroom is inspected by hand. We do not use cultivated mushrooms – only those that grow naturally in the wild, without human intervention. The harvest is then processed using gentle, traditional methods: natural drying, rapid freezing or controlled refrigeration, depending on the specific characteristics of each product.
